| Justice of the Peace for a Day! and other nonsensicles... |
[Jul. 14th, 2005|01:44 pm] |
Monday: went to Kittery and got some capris to wear to work. They fit really nice, and now people can't see up my shorts when I lean over the dip cabinet to scoop the ice cream. Randomly started getting sad and then balled my eyes out for a good ten minutes for no good reason. I'm pretty sure it's from the hormones. I don't have any lurking depression that I'm aware of or anything, so...
Good news! I just found out that I can become a JP for a day. That means that I may be able to perform the ceremony for drogith and Ali(who are now my neighbors, since their move a week ago. Yey!) I'm so happy for them, and I'm really excited about being able to do it. Hehe! |

| | The Dears - C'etait Pour La Passion | ] | This week seems to be no sleep week. Yesterday I woke up at 8:30 am, and I stayed up til 5:00 a.m, first helping drogith paint his new apartment Big Bird yellow, and then learning about emulsification and phospholipids. If humnick weren't going to Canadia this weekend, I would be asking for some help studying for my first Bio exam.
I slept for two and a half hours and then got up to get to my 8:30 class, which just got out at noonish. I have to close tonight at England's so I'm looking at going to bed, oh, around midnight? Then up again at 6:50 a.m. to help miss_chance do some painting in Boston all day. I haven't crashed yet, but I predict that I will sometime soon, so I am now off to bed to try and get in another four or so hours. Wish me sweet dreams! |

It has a two new knitting posts, and thank you person for your suggestion about a name for it(even though I picked my own, I liked yours too.)
Now I'm learning how to fiddle with my mother's digital camera and getting some good pictures of all of my projects, stash, and swatches to make it more visually interesting.
If anyone knows of a person who owns sheep and doesn't want/use the sheared wool, I will GLADLY take it off of their hands. Teaching myself to wash/card and putting rhyolight04's advice to work in spinning. |

Lately: Working a lot. I like working at the ice cream shop because most people who come into the shop like being there. Who wouldn't? They are getting ice cream! Getting used to being able to drink alcohol. Going out to play pool and drink beers is a new regular in my "what I have done this week." My mom is back from LA as of Sunday, back from Bikram training, and she is now a certified Bikram yoga instructor. She's already taught a bunch of classes, and she needs 75 classes in 6 months to be able to apply to open her own studio. There isn't one around Haverhill, so I'm hoping it will be a big draw. I knit her a cotton tank top while she was gone, but she didn't seem too excited about it when I gave it to her. I'm bummed about that because it took me almost a month to make.
My glasses are ready today, and I'll be picking them up a little bit later. I got a pair of cute brown ones, and a pair of burberry plaid glasses. I don't normally like designer wear like that, but they are very cute, and fit my face shape nicely.
Got an iPod for my birthday. Promptly lost it. Very very very upset about this. I am hoping that it will miraculously show up on its own. Put out some good vibes for me on that one. |

The woman told me that my "personality just didn't match what they wanted." I think what got one of the managers was that an older gentleman at one of the events started talking about politics with me, and instead of smiling and walking away, I actually answered questions when he asked me. He gave me his business card. Then I got back to work. Nina's reaction: "You're smart and you have a personality therefore you can't wait tables? Grr." So now no extra cash on weekend jobs. Damn. |

| | Beck - Broken Drum | ] | This week: -Managed to piss off my step-father by telling him I would be home for dinner, and then disappearring with my friends. I realized that I had done this after I had left the house and my friends told me that as I was getting changed, he had been very excited to have people over for dinner, thenwas saddened when he realized we were all going out. I should've called him to apologize then, but I forgot, and got back after he went to bed. That was rude of me. -Had my 10-mo. old brother Kevin come over and play on the floor for a few hours. We took him for a walk in his new Jeep stroller. I am convinced that we are now training our next generation to drive gas-guzzling SUVs from birth. -Talked with three of my professors about the conflict in Israel and Palestine, and got three different opinions from them. -Worked every day this week because it was sunny and my boss added extra shifts to the schedule, and yet made crap for tips -Got the oil changed in the car. -REALLY screwed up the amount of peanuts in a pb cookie recipe at work(I put in 16x more peanuts than it called for.) and accidentally made what I call Uber Goober cookies. -Managed to burn off part of my fingerprint taking said cookies out of the oven. -Watched Neil and some local rappers record some tracks in his studio while I worked on some new stencil graffitti designs. Very cool. -Located a ton of my high school friends through Myspace.com -Ignored my homework for the entire weekend. |

| | Deathcab for Cutie - Expo '86 | ] | Visited a friend today. I taught her mother how to crochet a baby hat. Her family is muslim and from Egypt. She made me some Turkish coffee and read my grounds. Among other more personal things that hit the nail on the head (I never met this woman before, am I just an easy read? I've seemed to have had success with all kinds of palm/tarot/tea/coffee readings), she told me that I would find the man I will marry soon (she gave me a time period and no I won't tell), I will move to the place I've been planning on moving to, finish school, make a good amount of money, and buy a house on the water. How can I argue with that? She asked me about horses, which threw me for a loop. She showed me the horse in my cup. I have no idea how I managed to make the head of a horse so clearly just by drinking coffee. But I had indeed been thinking about horseback riding for the last five or six months. Very strange. After reading my cup, she went about cooking an Atkins dieter's nightmare: peppers, onions, and beef with rice, beans, potatoes, and noodles. So many carbs, so little time... It was delicious. (As my family likes to say to waiters, "all of those Atkins people, we'll have their bread too please.") Randa, the friend whose house I was visiting, and I sat on her mother's bed and watched a movie. About halfway through, a gold-colored plastic mosque on the bedstand began singing in Arabic. Apparently it was the call to prayer that men sing from the minarets. But it was like an annoying electronic prayer alarm clock. very strange. Having my cup read today was probably the most interesting thing to happen to me this week, and I wish I had some way to red cord it when it was happening because it was really cool. |

*sigh* It's been a long week of schoolwork, work, extracurricular activities, etc. New obsession: The Dears. awesome band from Montreal, Canadia. Saw them on Wed. and they ROCKED although the levels at the club were way off and sitting twenty feet from the stage WITH earplugs still did damage to my ears that I could feel DURING the show. Very dangerous. I've had intermittent ringing/hushing sounds in my left ear since the show on Wed. I'm really annoyed at this, especially since I was wearing earplugs, and I wasn't right up to the stage. I feel for the people without plugs who were closer to the stage. Also, in between sets, the lighting guy was playing this Cd that was incredible. I tracked him down and he told me it was the The Dissociatives I'm now a bit obsessed with them at the moment too. Check out their video for "Horror with Eyeballs"
Today: Looking forward to a nice busy Saturday night at the ice cream shop. Lots of tips. |

I'm really looking forward to learning more about stencilling, and screenprinting as forms of art. On the political front, I am glad to see what is coming out of the mouths of at least this one Massachusetts Republican in regard to Gay Marriage (and I am not being ironic here): "Leadership is about bringing people together and seeking the common good; not polarizing people by preying on their prejudices." -Boston Herald op-ed by United Leaders co-founder Jesse Leavy |

| | Jeff Buckley - Grace | ] | This week's report: sick. it's officially Friday now, and the answer to "do/did you feel sick today?" has been yes to every weekday, and one weekend-day. So that means that I have OFFICIALLY been sick for a week. At first my symptoms were all of the ones on that "...so you can get some rest medicine" ad. Now they are somewhat limited to runny nose, sinus pressure, and watery eyes.
I didn't go to school Tues. and Wed., and only went Thurs. because I had a test. On the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics no less. Later today (9 am) I will be discussing the intracacies of manifest destiny in my combination civ and lit class.
Wishing that I had a boatload more time to work on my zine.
On the brightside... this week I will have a boatload more time to work on my zine! Spring break has such good timing that way. Except, looking out my window, it seems that nature forgot to "Spring forward." It's mid-March, it is negative 5 degrees, and we are expecting another six inches of snow.
Jeff Buckley is singing me to sleep. |
